I see $ 50 to $ 75 improved profit per truck load through
the elimination of overdrying. During the seasons I have
used the PM-LUFT/Tornum Rice Conditioner I have seen just how
important relative humidity is the cooling air and how
it impacts on my drying. By reducing temperature, I am
able to store paddy safely until I have dryer capacity
and then by taking advantage of low ambient relative humidity
on cold days, dry with no heat. This leads to more uniform
moisture content, no overdrying and great savings. Cold
air is drying is more uniform, less stressful and far
less costly than our traditional way of drying and should
become the norm for rice dryers. Quick temperature reduction
eliminates insect problem since insects will not be drawn
to rice below 60°F. If insects are present in a bin the
cooling process will move most of them to the top of the
bin where a bit of D.E. will eliminate the problem. Last
year insect control cost us $ 24.00. The direct and indirect
benefits of the PM-LUFT/Tornum Rice Conditioner have made this
an exceptional investment that will yield benefits far
into the future.
