PM-LUFT/Tornum Original KANALSYSTEM®

Duct system for Aerating and Unloading
Flat bottom Bins, Silos and Flat Storage Buildings

  1. Dual purpose system - Aeration ducts and Bin unloading after grain has ceased to flow by gravity
  2. For use in bins with center, side or multiple outlet discharge points
  3. Design consists of rectangular steel ducts with a top galvanized perforated deck plate with specially designed openings to allow the grain to flow
  4. Ridges of solid concrete or other acceptable material are cast between the kanal troughing (air ducts) at the angle required for the grain to flow onto the kanals and be conveyed to the bin discharge point by air from aeration fan
  5. Ductwork from the aeration fan is attached to the inlet end of the kanal trough to supply it with air
  6. Several different patterns of kanal layout are used depending on the layout or application designed
  7. Can also be used for aeration and unloading of flat storage buildings
  8. Can be designed for an unlimited bin diameter

Major benefits of the KANALSYSTEM®
  1. Safety is one of the biggest assets of the system. Sweep augers and bin entry are not needed to empty the bin
  2. Provides excellent aeration opportunities because of the design of introducing the airflow uniformly throughout the grain storage bin
  3. Aeration function provides air to all grain in the structure as the air flows up the concrete ridge leaving all grain exposed to the airflow
  4. Unloading capacity in bushels/ton per hour varies with the size of the bin and fan size. In larger bins such as 60 Ft (18M), the grain left in the bin after gravity flow ceases can be emptied at rates in excess of 20.000 bushels (500 tons) per hour allowing bins to be emptied during shuttle train or barge loading and be ready for a different commodity
  5. Labor savings and the value of employees not entering the dusty and unfavorable environment of a grain bin during cleanout are added benefits
  6. Space conservative, requiring only 20% of the storage capacity lost to a conventional 37 inclined slope concrete hopper
  7. No mechanical or moving parts inside the bin
